Biography

Alexander Vrancken studied Pharmacy and Medicine, and obtained his PhD degree at Utrecht University (2007). The thesis involved strategies for diagnosis and treatment of chronic axonal polyneuropathies, with emphasis on chronic idiopathic axonal polyneuropathy and non-systemic vasculitic neuropathy. Part of this research was carried out at Hôpital Le Kremlin-Bicêtre in Paris.
Since 2007 he works as neurologist/clinical neurophysiologist at the UMC Utrecht, and has specialized in neuromuscular diseases.
The current line of research involves unravelling the etiology of chronic idiopathic axonal polyneuropathy.
